The Granola Goat S.O.S. Sulfur Face Mask

When it comes to spot treating, I think everyone’s skin responds differently to different products. I like to use an AHA+BHA product (that has at least 2% BHA). My favorite is Peter Thomas Roth acne clearing gel. But on top of that I have always loved to use a dry sulfur powder. For me, sulfur gives all of my spot treatments an extra oomph. It works especially well on those big bumps that you can feel forming under the surface. It can help to dry out oozing spots and help bring a pimple to a head 😬 (All very glamorous, I know)

When my favorite sulfur powder was discontinued I was talking to Liz at  thegranolagoat about my love of sulfur and she decided to make one! I tested out some prototypes, she made some smart tweaks and ingredient additions, and then she came up with this gem of a final product–the S.O.S. Dry Face Mask with 12.5% sulfur.

I think by having it as a dry mask it makes it INCREDIBLY versatile. Liz also likes dry masks because by mixing your masks as you use them, you avoid the need for preservatives. Using dry masks also gives you the opportunity to choose your liquid (think outside of the box and try things other than water).

Also, for those familiar with the classic smell of sulfur…this mask doesn’t have that (yippee!)

Ingredients: Camellia Sinensis (Matcha) Powder* Plukenetia Volubilis (Sacha Inchi) Powder*, Montmorillonite (French Green) Clay, 12.5% Sulfur, Curcuma Longa (Turmuric) Powder*, Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender)** Essential Oil

* = Certified Organic | ** = Organically Grown

TIPS FOR USE

📍If you want to mix this with other anti-inflammatory ingredients, consider products with: aloe vera, arnica, chamomile, colloidal oatmeal, cucumber extract, feverfew, licorice root, niacinamide, witch hazel

📍When it comes to acne-fighting ingredients, it can be combined with salicylic acid, zinc, AHAs, benzoyl peroxide, and sulfonamide

HOW I USE IT!

My favorite way to use this is to just dab some of the dry mask on top of any spots after my skin care routine at night. This is my “maintenance” approach. To keep those bumps from really forming into anything. If they do grow, that’s when I will make a paste and put that on the spot for at least an hour or sometimes over night.

👉If it’s over night I do the sulfur + oil or sulfur + soothing/hydrating serum combo. When it is for a hour or so I do the sulfur + AHA/BHA or sulfur + BHA Combo.

PRICE: $19 for 2 oz. (A little goes a long way so this will last you awhile!

  • Thanks, Vanessa! When I run out of my DDG sulfur mask, I will give this a try, because eww, the smell. I love Granola Goat's Starry Night.
