Before I jump in, an important caveat about my skincare this year. Being totally frank, In 2025 I’ve been struggling in a way that made even simple routines feel overwhelming, and most nights I barely managed the basics. When I tried to make a list of my most loved products, it felt like I was creating a highlight reel of what I wished my skincare had looked like instead of reflecting how I actually showed up for myself.
A lot of the products I adore, especially masks, specialty serums, and anything that falls into the “bonus step” category, just didn’t get used consistently because of where my mental health has been. I still think they’re fantastic. I still recommend them. I just didn’t reach for them much.
So I decided to include info on products in my collection that I love, but to particularly highlight my most used products. Throughout this post, I’ll mark anything that truly became part of my real-life routine with the label “2025 Go To Product” to make it clear which items I I reached for the most in a year where energy and motivation were in short supply. If something you remember me loving doesn’t show up here, it doesn’t mean I don’t still love it. My favorites rarely change unless a formula changes or something gets discontinued, so last year’s favorites list still holds up.
Cleansers
Oil-Based Cleansers
Elemis Superfood AHA Glow Cleansing Butter

Love how this removes makeup and provides SUPER gentle fruit enzyme exfoliation in a buttery balm format that rinses clean.
Others in my Collection I Enjoy
All of these remove makeup well, aren’t a pain to remove and make my skin feel nourished. (And they don’t break me out or they wouldn’t be in my collection 😉)
- Liquid oil option with a spa-like botanical scent.
- Balm in a jar that smells incredible
- Alpha-H Melting Moment Cleansing Balm – 25% off at Nordstrom or Dermstore
- Grinding balm (really love this packaging) that is a bit like the texture of the Farmacy Green Clean
Water-based cleansers (aka morning cleansers or my second cleansers)

Go with this if you ever have congestion or acne but you want a gentle daily cleanser
- pH = 5.26
- Gentle surfactants
- Silky texture with great slip
- Love the packaging
- Reasonably priced
This has been my holy grail cleanser for over 4 years now. Quin and I love it. I gave it to my sister-in-law and she loves and my nieces love it. I love it because it is a gel texture that still feels silky on the skin. It has a tiny touch of salicylic acid that is low enough to be used every day but just enough to help reduce skin congestion. I love the packaging and how it only needs a pea size amount. It doesn’t have a scent and it has a great pH so my skin’s acid mantle stays happy. I want everyone to try this cleanser at least once. (I love that Jordan makes a travel size so you can try it out that way).
Micellar Water & Wipes
Bioderma - Sensibio - H2O Micellar Water
Sale Price: $13.98
Deal: 33% off at Amazon
Great to use as a first cleanse or to take off leftover makeup as a second cleanse
I like to have a micellar water on hand to take off any left over mascara after cleansing with an oil-based cleanser. This never stings my face or eyes and isn’t stripping or harsh.
Bioderma - Sensibio - H2O Wipes

Sometimes you just need to use a makeup wipe. And these are my favorite. They aren’t too dry or too wet or too scratchy or too scented. They are just right.
Acid Exfoliators
BHA-Focused Exfoliation for Pores, Texture and Congestion
So for the majority of the year, my most used product in this category was Slurp Decalt (2025 Go To Product). But Slurp has been dealing with internal issues (they posted about it on their IG in June), and they have shut down their website and not taking any orders currently.
So when I finished my bottle of Decalt, I began searching for a suitable replacement (which is hard because it was a really unique formula).
The two products that I used for the same purpose in my routines as Decalt (but neither were as gentle while still being so effective at reducing the appearance of pores) was the Paula’s Choice Resist Daily Pore Refining Treatment (20% off at Paula’s Choice) and Medik8 Press & Clear (30% off with code VANESSA at Dermstore).
Torriden BALANCEFUL 5D Cica Complex Refining Toner
Sale Price: $27 at Sephora
This is my current front-runner as a Decalt replacement. It’s gentle but genuinely effective, with PHA (a larger-molecule exfoliant that smooths without causing much irritation), a BHA derivative, and LHA (a lipophilic, slow-penetrating exfoliant that targets clogged pores with a milder touch). It’s also packed with barrier-supporting ingredients. The whole formula takes a low-and-slow approach to improving skin texture and the look of pores, and I actually prefer that because it means I don’t have to worry about irritation creeping in.
Sadly, not on sale. But its huge and a good value.
medicube Zero Pore Pad
Sale Price: $13 at Amazon
I started out doing a split-face comparison for a month with Torriden and these Medicube pads. I like them, but I learned pretty quickly that I can’t reach for them as often as I do Torriden or Decalt (which I use about three mornings a week). What I do enjoy is the versatility of these being presoaked pads. For example, after swiping my face, I run the pad over my elbows, armpits, and heels.
These use 4.5% lactic acid (a stronger AHA compared to Decalt’s gentler PHA) plus a similar 0.45% BHA, but they don’t have the extra soothing ingredients you get with Decalt or Torriden. The result is effective exfoliation, just with a bit less built-in cushioning for sensitive skin.
AHA-Focused Exfoliation: For helping get rid of dull skin and giving skin an overall glow
This is a category that kind of fell to the wayside in 2025. Not because my skin didn’t need these products, but just because I was doing less for my skin overall. But in a normal year, I would use one of these two products one night a week or one night every two week to help slough off dead skin cells.
You don’t need both, but I just struggle to pick a favorite between the two. I think I prefer CTRL Z as an overnight treatment, and Good Genes I can use the little trick I found where I apply it the morning of an event (sort of like a primer but only on areas I want some smoothing of lines) and when I do that, I feel like my makeup doesn’t settle in those lines as much later in the day. With CTRL Z I can’t use it that way– but I think CTRL Z has a more innovative and unique formula and is a bit more geared toward acne-prone skin since it has some additional ingredients to help with blemishes. It also is unique in that it uses both Mandelic and Lactic Acid PLUS PHA (another form of acid exfoliation that is gentler) PLUS enzyme exfoliants PLUS a non-acid exfoliant. Then, in addition to those exfoliants it has skin brightening, soothing, and moisturizing ingredients.

Spot Treatment
Leave-On Spot Treatment
CeraVe Acne Control Gel
Sale Price: $17.82
Deal: 15% off at Amazon
Peter Thomas Roth Acne Clearing Gel has been my holy grail spot treatment for YEARS and of course they discontinued it… So I went on a hunt to find a replacement and I bought nearly a dozen. I found a replacement last year and then they discontinued that!! I eventually found this and have been very happy with it. It is similar to PTR in that it has 2% Salicylic Acid plus a blend of both Glycolic and Lactic Acid (The PTR was BHA + Glycolic and my skin really responds well to BHA-AHA combos). And it also has some skin soothing ingredients to help avoid flakey irritated skin. Dries clear and works well under makeup.
Other Leave-on Spot Treatments in My Collection
- For an overnight spot treatment
- The Ordinary Sulfur 10% Powder-to-Cream Concentrate – 23% off at The Ordinary
- I love sulfur for spot-treating pimples, and this one felt genuinely innovative. It starts as a powder and I shake a little into my palm, and when you tap it onto a pimple it transforms into a cream. It’s a nighttime treatment since it dries down white, but it isn’t drying like many sulfur products. It also avoids that usual sulfur smell, which is a big plus. Most importantly, it actually helps flatten pimples that have come to a head, not the deeper, under-the-skin ones.
- The Ordinary Sulfur 10% Powder-to-Cream Concentrate – 23% off at The Ordinary
- My favorite *and most used* long-lasting pimple patches –
- Mighty Patch™ Invisible+ patch – 30% off at Anthro
- These are more expensive than some other pimple patches but the reason I love these is because I can still have a thin layer of skincare on (including the Cerave spot treatment) and these will still stick and stay on. A lot of the cheaper pimple patches I have bought just slide off or lift easily and I ended up going through them quicker so the price wasn’t actually a savings.
- Mighty Patch™ Invisible+ patch – 30% off at Anthro
Spot Treatment Tool
ZIIP Dot
Sale Price: $159.99
Deal: 20% off at ZIIP w/code GOALSZIIP
I filmed an IG video of this device after I was so excited about how well it worked for me.
It starts with negatively-charged microcurrent (for 60 seconds) which helps to target bacteria in the skin, followed by 30 seconds of nanocurrent (which is great for calming redness). And I love that it doesn’t require an app like the ZIIP halo does (for the problem solver, pimple, routine). If you have the ZIIP Halo, you don’t need this device (especially now that the ZIIP added a routine that replicates the routine for the Dot. The main benefit for the dot is that I just press a button and the 90 second routine starts and I don’t need to use or open the ZIIP app).
I think that this works great once I see a pimple coming to the surface (like a whitehead or papule) or if I have a hidden pimple that I want to bring it to the surface, the dot worked great for that. It does feel zippy when you go over a pimple!
I also like that the conducting gel that comes with it has a cool ingredient called Dendriclear (a trademarked ingredient with glycerin, water and Polylysine that is designed to fight acne in a new way by working gently with the skin’s natural microbiome to reduce acne) along with some calming ingredients.
Other Spot Treatment Devices in my Collection
For hidden pimples that I can feel before I see them
- reVive Light Therapy Glo Anti-Aging & Acne LED Wand – 35% off at reVive Light Therapy w/code VANESSA
- For really stubborn pimples I like to use blue (415nm) and red (630nm-660nm)) to help target the bacteria and inflammation. Since blue light can cause hyperpigmentation with frequent use I prefer to just spot treat with blue light rather than use an LED mask that has a blue light setting. This handheld device is so handy… no pun intended. its a 3 min treatment and I always notice that by the next day the pimple is less angry.
Serums
Vitamin C Serums
L-Ascorbic Acid Serums to stimulate collagen synthesis, fight free radicals and slow skin aging, and fade pigmentation.
I prefer LAA-based serums. LAA is the gold standard (has more evidence behind its benefits), and has consistently given me better results than products using Vitamin C derivatives. It’s a nice bonus when a product has both LAA and a derivative, but I would still want the formula to prioritize the LAA over the derivative (i.e., have at least 10% LAA)

Other Vitamin C serums I like
iS Clinical Pro-Heal Serum Advance+ (15mL on sale for $69.30)
30% off at skinBEAUTIFUL RX w/code BF30
- This is great option if you also have some redness you want to address. This was my previous top choice for when I was going to splurge on a Vit C serum. One reason I was willing to splurge on it was because I liked the additional bonus ingredients it had and how it helped reduce stubborn redness in my cheeks. But because I have had less redness in my cheeks lately, I really don’t need the extra help with that. This has some packaging issues that have annoyed me (my tops never stay tightly screwed on), so it loses some points for those issues too.
Cipher c-shield (50mL on sale for $105)
*Small Business*
25% off at Cipher Skincare w/code VANESSA25
- If you prefer a streamlined routine with a stabilized LAA product housed in a cream that offers numerous benefits, C-Shield is a great option. I prefer liquid serums for easier integration with other serums and creams that I already enjoy. But C-Shield’s multifunctional formula is ideal for those seeking more of a one-and-done Vitamin C product (I have another post with more info on this).
Prequel Lucent-C (on sale for $18.40)
20% off at Prequel w/code BFCM20
- This affordable Vitamin C serum is similar to Maelove, Geek & Gorgeous, and Skinceuticals Serum 10 (but this isn’t as gentle as Serum 10). This contains Niacinamide, skin-soothing and hydrating ingredients, and ingredients to support the skin’s microbiome. Go with this if you prefer a serum with Niacinamide and without Vitamin E.
Maelove The Glow Maker (on sale for $30.64‡)
*Small Business*
‡Deal available on subscription bundles at MAELOVE: 7% off any 2 items; 15% off 3 items; and 20% off 4+ items. Plus, get an additional 20% off your first subscription shipment.
- Another great option for an affordable LAA serum. I like how the formula includes hydrating and soothing ingredients. Both Lucent-C and Maelove have similar stability (Maelove also had some crystallization). If you want to avoid Vit E, go with Lucent-C and if you want to avoid Niacinamide, or need more skin-soothing, go with Maelove.
Geek & Gorgeous (30mL on sale for $12)
*Small Business*
20% off at Geek & Gorgeous
Most affordable option. May not have bonus ingredients, but it layers nicely with other products that could offer other benefits. Made fresh every week which is also nice. I prefer multi-functional formulas at this point in my life (i.e., 40+), but this is great for folks that want an evidence-based LAA formula at a great price.
Skinceuticals Serum 10 (30mL on sale for $59.50)
30% off at skinBEAUTIFUL RX w/code BF30
A gentle option (with only 10% LAA) that is great if your skin doesn’t respond well to Vit E. Also has Hydrating/Soothing bonus ingredients.
I think this is a better option than Lucent-C if you have sensitive skin because of the lower concentration of LAA.
Serums *Primarily* Focused on Fading Hyperpigmentation
Mother Science Hero Serum
2025 Go To Product
Sale Price: $66.75
Deal: 25% off at Mother Science w/code BF2025
*Small Business*
It is a creamy serum with a light texture and layers well. I can use it alongside other actives or retinoids. It doesn’t have a scent. It is gentle but effective. After a month of use I started to see improvements in hyperpigmentation on my forehead. The first bottle lasted me 6 weeks and I used two pumps twice a day. For my second bottle I used 1 pump once a day.
FAQ: Does Mother Science replace a vit c serum?
For me, no. But for you it might. The Mother Science key ingredient has a very unique mechanism of action for targeting dark spots and sun damage (I have never seen in other products). If you are using a LAA serum primarily to fade hyperpigmentation and you wanted to streamline your routine, you could certainly just use one or the other (going with whichever you find more effective). I like to use an LAA serum for more than just its impact on pigmentation, but that is the easiest thing to look for in before and after photos (e.g., I can’t track whether I had an increase in collagen synthesis). But since the collagen synthesis potential is “unseen” | like to choose LAA products that also deliver on the results visible to the naked eye in the short term (e.g., 8-12 weeks)
Also, I have gotten a handful of DMs asking if this is redundant with Defenage BioSerum or the Bioeffect EGF Power Serum. The answer is no. I use this in addition to those as a dedicated pigmentation product with a touch of well-aging. The other two are primarily well-aging with a touch of help with pigmentation.
The photos below show my results after 5 weeks. (the right or bottom photo are the “After”)

These would all be supporting actors to Defenage 8-in-1 BioSerum (which I consider the lead actor, if you will). I tend to rotate these or I go in stints where I use one for awhile and then switch it up to keep my routines interesting. But really I only need one in this group. If money were no object, I would choose the Bioeffect Power Serum and the Medik8 Liquid Peptide Advanced MP would be my second pick. Those two were my most reached “supporting” well-aging serums this year (note that I did not have them in my collection at the same time. When I finished the Power Serum, I received the Medik8 Advanced MP in PR and decided to give that a go!). I’ll include some images I made about those two serums at the end of this section.
The serums below are listed in order of how effective I think they are in helping with signs of aging.

- This reminds me A LOT of both the Slurp Hyaluid AND Medik8 Liquid Peptide.
- InnBeauty Elastic Skin – 20% off on orders $50+ at INNBEAUTY; 25% off $100+ (Buy 2 or add another product to reach deal threshold). Click to Shop
*Note that Niacinamide serums also help with this, but I have found that when I apply a Copper tripeptide-1 serum with between 1-3% concentration to fresh marks from pimples I have picked at, they heal and fade much quicker.
*Double note 😉 Defenage BioSerum also helps with this. See this post and also see my acne story highlight on IG.
*Triple note: Lots of people use Copper Tripeptide-1 serums all over their face in a more consistent manner to help with signs of aging and skin strengthening. And there is some evidence they can help with that. But I am sharing how I personally use copper serums, and that is “as needed”. Sometimes I will apply them all over (especially the Maelove one because that is really more than just Copper Tripeptide-1), but I tend to just spot treat with these.
- NIOD Copper Amnio Isolate Serum 3 1:1 – 23% off at NIOD, making it $47.74 (15mL). Click to Shop
- Maelove Peptide Squad Collagen Renewal Serum – Build your own subscription bundle and save at MAELOVE: 7% off any 2 items; 15% off 3 items; and 20% off 4+ items. Plus, get an additional 20% off your first subscription shipment. For example, it’s $44.59 when you subscribe with 2 items (you can mix and match). Click to Shop
- Another option that isn’t a Copper Tripeptide-1 Serum but that is very good at healing fresh wounds or scars that are still pink is the Calecim Pink Serum. (Use clode GLOWING for 15% off. And they have free GWP for Black Friday)
Niacinamide is an ingredient with various benefits, what I have found it helps the most with (when I use it consistently, and the product has about 10% concentration) is it reduces redness and blotchiness. Other benefits of niacinamide include improving epidermal barrier function, increasing collagen production, reduce sebum production and improve appearance of pores, and lighten hyperpigmentation. Now that niacinamide is such a popular ingredient it is included in a lot of serums, so I haven’t been feeling the need for a dedicated Niacinamide serum. But I still like to have one on hand to incorporate in routines that may not also include Niacinamide in the ingredient list.
Slurp Niacid[Currently unavailable]- Paula’s Choice 10% Niacinamide Booster – 20% off at Paula’s Choice, making it $39.20 (20mL). But hold off on buying this until November 28th if you can… 😉 Click to Shop
- Glow Recipe Watermelon Glow Niacinamide Dew Drops – 20% off at Glow Recipe, making it $28.80 (40mL). Click to Shop
These are listed in order of how hydrating the products are:
- Experiment Super Saturated Serum – 25% off at Experiment, making it $21 (40mL). Click to Shop
- Jumiso Snail Mucin 95 + Peptide Facial Essence – 41% off at Amazon, making it $9.99 (4.73 oz). Click to Shop
- This is also amazing as a body serum. I use this after I get spray tans because it keeps my skin super hydrated (which helps the spray tan last longer) and unlike some moisturizers, it won’t break down the spray tan due to any oils.
- NIOD Modulating Glucosides – 23% off at NIOD, making it $22.33 (30mL)
- I’ve loved this serum since 2021 because it consistently calms irritation without costing a fortune. It has a thin, creamy texture that can leave me a little shiny in the morning, but since I layer lighter serums over it that doesn’t bother me. It isn’t my favorite texture or scent, yet I still keep it in my routine because it delivers: it strengthens the skin, soothes flare-ups, and reliably keeps irritation in check. Click to Shop
- Glow Recipe Avocado Ceramide Recovery Serum – 20% off at Glow Recipe, making it $36 (1 fl oz)
- I really enjoy the scent and texture of this serum. It is not quite as strong as NIOD at stopping irritation before it starts, but it is still an excellent option. The plant extracts give it a light, refreshing scent, and the formula feels comfortable in the morning without making my skin greasy. It keeps my skin calm and moisturized, and it is one I reach for often because it simply feels good to use. Click to Shop
Favorite "New Find" of 2025
Allies of Skin Azelaic and Kojic Advanced Clarifying Serum
2025 Go To Product
Sale Price: $69.30 (1 fl oz)
Deal: 30% off at Allies of Skin w/code VANESSAB. Plus if you add more to your cart, you can get a Free Allies of Skin Lip Balm with orders $75+.
This has been my favorite new find of the year. I started using it in July, finished the first bottle (which was gifted), and immediately bought another. What impressed me most is how multifunctional it is. It helps with redness, congestion, pore appearance, uneven tone, and it gives a quick visible boost in clarity right after application. It has no scent, a milky lightweight texture, and layers beautifully with the rest of my routine.
The 10% azelaic acid helps to tackle redness, breakouts, and uneven tone, while kojic acid and hexylresorcinol help with overall skin clarity. The formula is rounded out with antioxidants, soothing ingredients like aloe, allantoin, and bisabolol, plus lightweight hydrators like squalane and glycerin, so it stays effective without feeling harsh.
When this serum first launched I ignored it because I had never liked the texture of any over the counter azelaic acid product, but my friend Jay convinced me to give it a chance. I am very glad I listened. This has become a regular part of my routine because it simply works and feels great on my skin.
Essences & Mists
Mara Pearl Peptide Glaze
Sale Price: $40.50 (3.4 oz)
Deal: 25% off (discount automatically added) + a cute deluxe pearl peptide glaze (5 mL)
*Small Business*
Before this year I never really incorporated essences into my routines, but about half way through this year I was sent the Mara Pearl Peptide Glaze in PR and it really surprised me with how much I liked it. It provides hydration and a pretty, subtle radiance thanks to the pearl powder, and I think that subtle hint of glow was enough to make we want to reach for this a lot. See the photo below to see what other very expensive it reminds me of.
Note: Even though this is an essence with a creamy liquid texture, I apply it after my L-ascorbic acid vit c serum and the Mother science serum because I want to prioritize those ingredients absorbing deeply BUT it likely doesn’t make a Huge difference. In other words, don’t stress about order of application. Do what works for you. I just like to prioritize actives in terms of order of application.
Other Essences & Mists in my Collection

Retinoids
Mother Science Retinol Synergist
2025 Go To Product
Sale Price: $67.20 (30mL)
Deal: 30% off at Mother Science w/code BF2025

Quin has finished multiple bottles of this and loves it because it doesn’t smell bad (that is his biggest complaint with most retinoids), it makes his skin soft, and it is gentle. Last year I started rotating this with Medik8 and my prescription tret. I like the Medik8 as much as the Mother Science and I really couldn’t pick a favorite between the two. But since Quin uses this as his retinol and keeps it next to our bedside, that also made it easier for me to use this on nights I didn’t feel like doing a full skincare routine.
I started out the year rotating this with my prescription Tret but when I’m stressed, my skin is more reactive to Tret and I wasn’t in the mood to take various steps to counteract irritation from Tret. (I have a post called My Tret Toolkit that shows what I would normally do). Anyways, halfway through the year I just started to use this.
It’s gentle but effective and has the added bonus of having Malassezin in it to provide extra help with hyperpigmention, along with ceramides and fatty acids. I would consider this a moderate-strength encapsulated retinol housed in a gentle formula.
Other Retinoids I have in my Collection
- Medik8 Crystal Retinal 10 – 30% off at Dermstore w/code VANESSA – Click to Shop
- What I love about the Medik8 Crystal Retinal line is that you can pick your strength in the same great formula. The line is numbered based on the concentration of Retinal. The 6 (.06% concentration) is my most purchased concentration (followed by the 10, 0.1%). I consider this a pretty gentle formula (it has soothing and barrier-supportive ingredients, antioxidants, plant oils and humectants). The 6 is around the concentration used in clinical studies. For example, one study found that after 18 weeks, 0.05% retinal & 0.05% retinoic acid were equally effective in reducing wrinkles, but retinoic acid caused more irritation.

There isn’t anything particularly earth shattering about this but I have had a hard time finding a glowy moisturizer that doesn’t make my sunscreen or foundation pill or make me really greasy. I love how this feels lightweight but cushioned, sinks in quickly, and leaves my skin comfortable without any greasiness. It gives a smooth, healthy finish to my skin and I really like the barrier-supporting ingredients it includes.
Tip, if you get this (or if you have other metal tubes) I highly recommend getting this very satisfying tube crimper/squeezer)

Truly a must-have product for me–soothing, repairing and doesn’t break me out.
This is a great product to use when I am having eczema flareups, or post skin procedures, or really when I have any irritation.
This has an ingredient (Aquaphilus Dolomiae Extract Filtrate) that has been found to help with itchy and dry skin (which is often found alongside psoriasis and eczema).
What I especially like is that it also added zinc and copper to help reduce bacteria and keep skin clear while it is repairing itself (and FWIW it has never broken me out). So because of that, this is something I would reach for after skin procedures. This also has a “C-Restore” complex that is a postbiotic restorative ingredient that is rich in proteins to help with skin restoration.
If my skin is REALLY ANGRY and stinging, I slather on a THICK layer (see photo) and it always makes it feel better.

Soothing and redness-reducing (thanks to high quality and high concentration of ceramides). Has a beautiful thick texture that isn’t tacky feeling. No scent.
The story below was from Feb. 2022 and I have loved this product ever since. It is one of my favorite products from Jordan.

Neostrata Rebond Sculpting Cream
Sale Price: $67.20 (1.75 oz)
Deal:30% off at Dermstore w/code VANESSA
I’ve never been blown away by a Neostrata product, so when they asked if I wanted to try anything I almost passed. This cream caught my eye though because the AHA and PHA blend looked like a solid choice for gentle turnover, brightening, and overall skin support. I was also curious about their MicroDiPeptide229 technology, which they say targets several parts of the skin matrix for a more lifted look, and it includes Aminofil, their patented amino acid derivative that is supposed to firm and plump. I’ve used Aminofil in a serum before and it was nice, but not something I missed once the bottle was done.
Still, this cream felt like a great all in one option, which fits the season of life I’m in because my nighttime routine has basically become “whatever I can manage.” I keep this, the Defenage 8 in 1 Bioserum, and some Bioderma wipes by my bed, and on good nights I use this cream followed by Defenage. The combo has been simple but effective for well aging, brightening, strengthening, antioxidants, and moisture. It is fragrance free, dispenses cleanly, and doesn’t pill, so it isn’t annoying to use.
Marini Skin Solutions (formerly Jan Marini) Transformation Face Cream
Sale Price: $90.30 (30mL)
Deal: 30% off at skinBEAUTIFUL RX w/code BF30
The Face Transformation Cream is a beautiful smelling “sparks joy” product for me and my husband. He and I have gone through 3 jars. Sometimes when I feel the blues kick in, I don’t even want to wash my face, much less use skincare. But this face cream actually motivates me want to wash my face (or at least use a face wipe) just so I could put this on. Aside from smelling good, it has great ingredients (like peptides, antioxidants, squalane, sodium PCA), but the reason I adore this is the texture & the smell. It makes my skin soft & legitimately puts a smile on my face.
Tatcha Indigo Overnight Repair
Sale Price: $69 (50mL)
Deal: 25% off at Tatcha w/code CYBER25
Incredibly soothing and hydrating. This is one of those products I reach for when my skin feels irritated, over-exfoliated, or just generally stressed. It leaves my skin noticeably plump by morning and has a comforting mix of barrier-strengthening ingredients that help calm things down fast.
It does leave a tacky finish, which isn’t my favorite, but the results outweigh the texture for me so I tolerate it. There’s no added scent, which I appreciate when my skin is reactive. And the packaging feels luxe, which makes the whole experience a little more enjoyable on nights when I’m trying to simplify my routine.

Issue: Crepey, thin skin on eyelids and fine lines and thin skin around eyes
Bioeffect EGF Eye Serum
2025 Go To Product
Sale Price: $64 (6mL)
Deal: 35% off w/code at BIOEFFECT w/code VANESSA. The best value is if you buy the eye serum plus refill set because you can get 2 eye serums for $55 each.
This is my absolute holy grail when it comes to eye products to help make thicker, tighter, firmer skin around eyes and particularly on eyelids.
Around age 30 I started to hate my eyelids… the thing that blows my mind is that now I don’t & it is bc of the Bioeffect EGF eye serum (FYI: My 1st one was sent in PR but I have bought COUNTLESS others)
The key strength of this is to reduce sagging skin and minimize fine lines through the stimulation of collagen, elastin and fibronectin synthesis (it isn’t a process that happens over night, so this isn’t a quick fix). I have before and after photos from after 8 and 12 weeks of use and then follow-up photos from over 1 year of use on my feed.
Since this usually isn’t hydrating enough on its own, I will often apply an eye cream on top. Once a day (either AM or PM, doesn’t matter which but it tends to be AM for me) I use one mini pump divided across both eyes. (I press down just until I see some serum come out and I stop). Any remaining serum I use up on the parentheses around my mouth.
My first bottle lasted only 8 weeks (2 mths) because I used it twice a day for a couple weeks (which is overkill). For most weeks I used it every single day, once a day.
My second bottle I never used it twice a day. I only used it once a day, 5-7 days a week and it lasted 12 weeks (3 mths).
My 3rd, 4th, and 5th tubes lasted about 13-16 weeks because I find that I am more in maintenance mode where I use this probably 4 to 5 days a week.

I was sent samples of this while they were in testing phase and then I got the final version midway through 2024. I am now on my 3rd tube (1 was preproduction). When I am using the Bioeffect Power Serum, I use this as my eye serum instead of the Bioeffect EGF Eye serum because I also apply the Bioeffect Power Serum on my eyelids. So rather than use the Bioeffect eye serum (which has the same growth factor, albeit at probably a higher concentration) I would used this because it also has a growth factor along with other well-aging ingredients that make it feel tightening. Once I ran out of my Bioeffect Power Serum, I opened up my backup of my Bioeffect eye serum and started to rotate that one with this one (mainly to extend the life of the Bioeffect egf eye serum). I don’t want to downplay how awesome and comprehensive the Anomaly eye serum is–it is just hard to compete with my holy grail. But I do find that when I use the Anomaly I usually don’t need a separate eye cream on top because this offer more hydration than the Bioeffect.
Eye Creams with a Primary Focus on Dark Circles
My darkness under my eyes comes from some hyperpigmentation or lack of sleep which makes blood vessels more noticeable. So if you have similar issues then these products might work. But if your darkness comes from genetics or bone structure (or a loss of fat in that area which causes a sunken look) then topical products won’t do much unfortunately.
Here are some other eye products I like because they have some ingredients to fade the hyperpigmentation, some caffeine and/or horse chestnut to help with the constriction of blood vessels and some light reflecting properties.

My first impression of this eye was so good that I had to immediately text @my.sister.made.me.buy.it to say that I agreed with her that this feels SO similar to the much more expensive U Beauty Super Hydrator eye cream that we both love. It officially took the spot of that eye cream (which is a great thing, because that saves me money!). I did split eye comparisons with the U Beauty formula and they performed almost identically, both immediately and by the end of the day. The textures feel similar and deliver the same results, but this one is the better value since it is about one hundred dollars less. I love the texture. It is moisturizing, works well under makeup, and does a great job plumping dehydration lines. It quickly became a favorite for a straightforward, hydrating eye cream.
The one thing that bugs me about this eye cream (and basically all InnBeauty products) is how unnecessarily large the packaging it. They do offer refills, so I. am sure that impacts the size of the main container, but it’s still annoying. Sephora sells some travel kits that have a mini eye cream and I love the small packaging and metal applicator. So I highly recommend checking those out if you want to travel with this product (and honestly I just prefer the mini travel size anyways).

- I have found that when I use the hot setting before I do the cold setting, it seems to depuff even better. So I’ll do the hot setting and then I apply a hydrating under eye cream. Usually the Jordan Samuel eye serum, and then I do the cold setting, and that helps the most
- Quin uses it constantly too because the cold helps him ward off eczema flairs – in addition to it being super convenient.
- Here are some more details about the device:
- Hot temp ranges from 95-108 (it has 3 levels)
- The highest level is hotter than I expected it would be, but in a good way. I’m happy there are 3 settings
- The theory is that you would use the hot setting first to help with
Stagnation and increase blood flow.
Then you would apply any serums/oils/emollient creams and then do the cold to tighten and really depuff. So the heat is supposed to amplify the effects of the cold.
- The theory is that you would use the hot setting first to help with
- Cold temp ranges from 57-50 (3 levels as well)
- The cold gets surprisingly cold! But not TOO cold. Better than an ice cube wrapped in a paper towel, which can feel too cold under my eyes.
- Compared to my cryo sticks, I like how this can maintain the same level of coldness while using it.
- The device will turn off after 6 min.
- It has a 30 min battery life
- 1 min of charging = 1 min of battery life (so it’s fully charged after 30 min)
- I asked TheraFace how it differs from the hot and cold ring attachments you can buy for the TheraFace Pro device. They said that that one doesn’t get AS cold as the new depuffing wand (it only gets as Low as 64F°). The new device also maintains the cold and hot for longer than the TheraFace Pro. And the person I spoke to prefers the shape of the new device compared to the hot and cold ring attachments.
Disposable eye masks
Bioeffect Imprinting Eye Mask Pack
Sale Price: $31.90 for 8 pairs
Deal: 35% off w/code at BIOEFFECT w/code VANESSA
Last year I spent a lot of time and money buying and trying eye masks to try to find some that were just as good as these, but were more affordable. In 2025 I saved myself the effort and just bought these when they were. onsale and gave up trying to find a cheaper option. I love that these are clear (which I prefer because it makes them more discreet when I use them on airplanes), they don’t slide down my face, they hydrate my under eyes and make them look more awake and bright. They are thin, but not too thin, and they don’t absorbs too quickly or too slowly. They are exactly what I want in disposable eye masks that I bring with me on trips.

Defenage 2-Minute Reveal Masque
Sale Price: $75.40 for 2 bottles (each 2.5 oz)

This is SUCH a hidden gem of a mask. Truly.
This is a gently warming cream mask with ultrafine sugar crystals and enzymes to exfoliate and remove dull, unwanted cells. This is the only physical exfoliating mask I own because most make my skin angry. Unlike the other products, this doesn’t have any defensins in the INCI. Instead, this helps to exfoliate the skin which also helps other products absorb better. About once a month or so, I apply a small amount to my face (focusing on the chin, nose and forehead or other areas with congestion) and gently massage for 20 seconds. Wait 2 minutes, and then with wet fingertips I massage the crystals until they are dissolved (I really enjoy this part, the mask turns milky and washes away really nicely). My dad LOVES this mask and uses it once a week to get soft, smooth skin.

This is a great multi-purpose mask that I usually reach for when my skin needs some healing. I also love to use it when I am breaking out because it is moisturizing while also drawing out gunk.
It has 38.7% pure honey which has a ton of beneficial properties (moisturizing, soothing, antibacterial, healing, aox, clarifying) and then it also contains nourishing plan oils (macadamia seed oil, sunflower seed oil, jojoba seed oil and shea butter) that help make the skin feel smooth and soft as well as beta-glucan (soothing/humectant), snail secretion filtrate (repairing/humectant) and bee venom and propolis.
Be sure to stir it before each use!

111Skin Cryo De-Puffing Eye Mask
Sale Price: $86.25 for 8 masks
Deal: 25% off at Dermstore w/code VANESSA
This is the mask I wear before special days because it just makes my skin look bright and it reduces redness.
I personally don’t think it actually de-puffs much, but I find it super brightening. I love how it feels cooling and I put the cut out mouth and eye cut outs on my eyes and lips.
Tip: Keep this in the fridge, if it is an all-day event, I set my alarm for 20 min early and then I put this on and lay back down until 20 min is up. Even though this mask says it is all about de-puffing, I find that it reduces redness, evens out skin tone, and gives my skin a radiant glow.
Biodance Bio-Collagen Real Deep Mask
Sale Price: $14.25 for 4 masks
Deal: 25% off at Soko Glam w/code CYBER25
This is the mask I wear the night before special occasions (or if you have 3 hours to wear it before an event, you could wear it the same day)
This mask actually lived up to the TikTok hype. My friend @courtneygrow told the group chat that we all needed to buy it, so we did. And everyone was impressed. I wear it the night before by putting it on about an hour before I go to bed. I will wash my face beforehand, sometimes apply a serum like the Bioeffect Power Serum or the Jumiso Snail Essence, and then I put this on. It starts out opaque but as it gets absorbed it becomes more and more clear. As it absorbed it also adheres better, which is how it is possible to sleep in it even if you sleep on your side. Usually what happens is I will wake up after a couple hours of sleeping and just take it off and go back to sleep. Every morning I wake up with skin that looks bright and glass-like. And all day my skin just has a “good skin day”.
I have bought some other masks that are similar and one was a dud (this one), but this one was pretty good. I would say a very similar result but what I didn’t like as much was that it shrunk up more as it got absorbed and left gaps between the pieces of the mask (which I tried to cover with the eye cut outs).
There are 2 other masks that I like as much as the Biodance and use in the same way (and I just rotate based on price at the time I need it). Those include:
- medicube Salmon DNA PDRN pink collagen jelly gel mask (currently $13 for 14)
- Cleardea Mucin Collagen EGF Fitting Mask (currently $17 for 5)

Peel Off Masks
Tosowoong Real Collagen Fit
Sale Price: $13.89 (50mL)
Deal: 30% off at Amazon
For Soft, glowing skin in 20 min.
I bought this on a whim one night because I was looking for the Medicube collagen night wrapping mask and that was out of stock and this one sounded good. I am really glad I bought it because I love it!
This gives a Biodance-like glow (but maybe 75% of the glow) in only 15-20 min. It left my skin really soft and looks bright.
It gets shiny as it dries down and it doesn’t feel uncomfortable (like some masks can that dry down a. d you feel like your face is being sucked in). And I love peeling it off (anyone that used to put gllue on their hands just to peel it off will understand why this is so satisfying).
I later got the Medicube mask, and I really like that one too BUT that one really does need to be left on for longer. And this one doesn’t do as well because it starts to easily lift with any movement. I did a split face and the side with the Tosowoong didn’t stay on well past 45 min.
Medicube Collagen Night Wrapping Mask
Sale Price: $13.30 (75mL)
Deal: 30% off at Amazon
For Soft, glowing skin the next morning.
I wouldn’t say this gives AS GOOD of results as the Biodance mask, but it is a bit easier to wear overnight (though I still wake up in the middle of the night to peel this off. I have found that it is best for me to avoid the nose area otherwise this will start to tickle me as it dries down.
Also you don’t NEED to wear this overnight, but you do need to wear it longer than the Tosowoong.
So basically, get the Tosowoong if you never thing you will want to wear it longer than 20 minutes. and get this if you want to try to wear it as long as possible (the results do get better).
Also, for both masks you can apply skincare underneath and use these to sort of seal those in. I put the Medicube mask over the Natura Bisse one and that was a dang good combo.

It is hard to find a water resistant sunscreen that still feels light on my skin–but this is a winner for me. It was reformulated last year, but I still love how it wears under makeup and throughout the day. I’ve gotten a lot of “sunscreen haters” to use sunscreen by giving them a bottle of this!

LED devices are my top skincare tool because they are effective (have high quality evidence to support their claims) and they are convenient, and things being convenient makes me more likely to use them! I keep my Omnilux Men’s mask and my Higher Dose neck mask in a fake book next to our couch so I can grab them when I am watching TV. I also love the Current Body Series 2 (use code GOALSLED). I store that one in my closet and I reach for that around the time I get my period because I get hormonal acne under my jawline and I like that the CB mask covers that area.

Goals: Improving skin laxity, boosting collagen production/firming up skin over time
I wasn’t a fan of the NuFace but the ZIIP has impressed me. What sets it apart is that it uses multiple waveforms (which includes Nanocurrent) whereas NuFace just has one waveform (microcurrent). Also, I love that there is a setting for treating blemishes. My mom is also very obsessed with her ZIIP and uses it consistently. I tend to just use mine before events, vacations, etc. because I am more lazy 🙂 Here is my mom’s review of ZIIP, and here is my blog post on overview of the technology behind ZIIP.
